Boyd explores employee drug testing
Boyd County may soon join the augmenting list of Kentucky counties to pass mandatory drug testing for every part of employees.
The Boyd County Fiscal Court plans to discuss implementing a countywide drug-testing policy among its office heads to gather their input before making allowance for a policy.
The stroke of has a limited drug-testing policy on the books already, but officials seem to be confused about who is covered under it and whether it has been enforced recently.
Mike Rogers, county road department supervisor, said his department has randomly tested employees with commercial driver’s licenses for years.
Some commissioners said they are in favor of expanding the policy to all employees, especially those who operate county-owned vehicles.
“It’s a good creative if you want to do it,” said commissioner Carl Tolliver.
“It indispensably to be a model policy that fits all of us,” said Sheriff Terry Keelin. “Department heads need to meet to go over it and come to a policy that addresses what we need to address.”
Jailer Joe Burchett said he too supports a comprehensive government and said the facility used to send employees for random testing.
Keelin said his division does not wish a administration nevertheless is in need of one.
County officials did not set a epoch for discussing any proposed policy. The court’s nearest meeting is Dec. 2.
